Queensland company buys alpine resorts


A subsidiary of Queensland’s privatised electricity utility has bought five resorts on the Blue Mountains in South Australia after it discovered an estimated 800,000 tonnes of coal was left behind after the electricity generation scheme was launched.

The Blue Mountains National더킹카지노 Park was originally opened in 2004 to replace the ageing Blue Mountains National Park, but now a majority of the land is owned by the state government.

About 5,600 people work on the vast landscape near Southport, with the most vulnerable and remote living at an altitude of about 30,000 feet.

The parks minister, Tom Koutsantonis, said it was not at all unusual for a company to want to buy expensive assets because they were not fully utilised.

« You have to be careful you don’t become the last person to have been there and if you’re not fully utilised you’re not really worth any money, » he said.

« What’s also important is that the assets are in good shape. »

State environment minister Robert Knight said the deals were the latest example of the state having to find money to clean up the Blue Mountains.

He said the $40 miljarvees.comlion deal would allow Queensland to maintain and operate the national park and reduce the threat of a return to old coal mining, which was found in one of the properties.

He said about 60 per cent of those who worked in the parks in the past 20 years were men from eastern Australi우리카지노a or New Zealand.
